My monthly newsletter covers the books I have read over the course of the month, the challenges I undertook as well as some other interesting articles, blog posts, interviews, tools, hacks, etc.

Books

Teacher's Reference Guides

  • On Disney - I have loved the last couple months reading up on Disney and the company he founded. His vision and drive are inspiring and I think there is much to be learned about how he thought and operated.

Monthly Challenges

  • Silent retreat - it was really nice to get some space and feel like it was alright to do nothing, to walk slowly, to eat slowly, to meditate, to think deeply and escape technology and time for just two days. Would highly recommend and will definitely do it again at some point.
  • Continued learning on Disney and Pixar - my respect for Disney and Pixar only grew the more I learned about them. Small, simple things like Pixar's shorts are a testament to their culture of innovation and creativity.

Other

  • Talks at Google with Josh Waitzkin - fascinating to hear him talk about how he thinks about learning and flow and how to reach your peak potential
  • Inspiring videos I've found this month when researching Pixar - 25 Years of Pixar Animation and Pixar: 20 Years
  • Ray Allen's "Letter to My Younger Self" is inspiring - put in the work regardless of naysayers and recognize that the road to greatness is often lonely
  • After a tumultuous political race, Warren Buffett, one of Hillary Clinton's biggest supporters, discusses why it's so important for America to get behind America's new president
